My Favorite Artist - Doug Hyde
“Getting so into a book that everything around you fades away.”

LOL. This is so going to be me. I still have a 3000 word assignment to complete...
All that is gold does not glitter,
Not all those who wander are lost;
The old that is strong does not wither,
Deep roots are not reached by the frost.
From the ashes a fire shall be woken,
A light from the shadows shall spring;
Renewed shall be blade that was broken,
The crownless again shall be king.
Made this today to use during my launching unit in readers workshop. I am going to finish it with my students over the first few weeks adding what each of the parts are for. It’s a modified version of a poster I saw online. I will post the link later when I am on my computer. I love opening up the amazing world held within books for kids. One of the most incredible things about teaching first and second grade is that I get to help and watch my students go from basically illiterate to literate beings. It is awesome. Every. Single. Time.

Mine is really similar….I just want the kids to help define (with me leading them, of course) why each of these parts is helpful for readers.
