When we read, we start at the beginning and continue until we reach the end. When we write, we start in the middle and fight our way out.

Perhaps all this linear story writing process we teach is not really helping. Children need to learn how to wrestle a great idea onto the page and usually that involves the main event coming first. Food for thought..
